Johnny Damon Should Join Cleveland Indians Roster Tuesday

Back on April 17 the Cleveland Indians officially announced that they were signing veteran outfielder Johnny Damon to a minor league deal in order to try and add a bit of pop to their offense. He was originally signed to play at extended spring training down in Arizona for a time before joining the AAA club down in Columbus, and indeed has been doing extended ST for two weeks down at the Indians facility.

However, it looks like the plan to shift him to Columbus has changed and Damon could instead join the Indians as soon as Tuesday. That would get him on the roster just in time for the Indians first game against the Chicago Cubs as they start a three game series. A roster spot will need to be cleared for Damon as he joins the big league club. Damon is going to wear the number 33 while with the Indians.

Damon hit .261 with 16 home runs for the Tampa Bay Rays in 150 appearances for them last season.
