And that does it for the 137th running of the Preakness Stakes, but not the 2012 racing season, as I'll Have Another pulled off some more late-race heroics to keep its bid for the Triple Crown alive by sneaking into a win. Much like the Kentucky Derby last month, Bodemeister was the horse in front until I'll Have Another demonstrated impressive closing speed to take it at the end.
As noted, I'll Have Another has just validated the season by keeping hopes for the Triple Crown alive. Generally, the Preakness is an exciting race that is slightly marred by the fact that the Kentucky Derby winner generally doesn't pick it up. But I'll Have Another has defied the odds once again.
Well, only slightly, in this case. I'll Have Another was one of the favorites for this one, obviously, but it was Bodemeister who was favored the most, once again. And once again, the horse fell short of expectations. All eyes will now be on The Belmont.
