Browns Running Back Trent Richardson Discusses Issue Of Having A Gay Teammate

The subject of having a gay teammate is sometimes an awkward one for NFL players, who often don't know how to address the topic when asked about it. An active NFL player has yet to come out of the closet, but a number of players have issued some refreshing comments on the hypothetical in recent years. Cyd Zeigler of Outsports.com spoke with several incoming NFL rookies, including the Browns' Trent Richardson, about having a gay teammate. The Alabama running back had some enlightened things to say -- quotes after the jump

Via Cyd Zeigler of Outsports.com:

"I never pay attention to it," Richardson said while revealing he has gay friends. "They do what they do. I don't have a problem with them. As long as they're playing good football and contributing to the team, I don't have nothing to do with that. It is what it is. I don't have any problem with any sexuality or whatever they've got going on. That's them. That's what they want to do. That's their life."
