Ohio State Vs. Penn State, 2012 Big Ten Baseball Tournament: Buckeyes Take Advantage Of Miscues In 12-5 Comeback Win

On Wednesday afternoon, the No. 6 seeded Ohio State Buckeyes upset the No. 3 Penn State Nittany Lions in the first round of the Big Ten Baseball Tournament by a final score of 12-5 . Despite holding a 5-1 lead entering the top of the fifth, the Nittany Lions became completely undone by allowing 11 unanswered runs, nine of which came in the final two innings.

Jaron Long was the starting pitcher for Ohio State and struggled early allowing all five of Penn State's runs on 11 hits in three innings pitched. However, the Buckeyes received a stellar combined performance by relievers Brett McKinney, Andrew Armstrong and Josh Dezse who weathered the early storm and held the Nittany Lions scoreless through the rest of the game.

Despite having a perceived lack of offense, the Buckeyes managed to put together an impressive performance that largely capitalized off of miscues by their opponents. David Corna and Patrick Porter of Ohio State both finished with a game high four RBI.

The Buckeyes will move onto the winner's bracket to face No. 1 seed Purdue on Thursday at 7 pm.
