Indiana Vs. Michigan State, 2012 Big Ten Baseball Tournament: Hoosiers Rallies To Defeat Spartans, 6-4

The Indiana Hoosiers survived a scare on Thursday after falling behind 3-0 early to Michigan State, but an eighth inning rally helped the Hoosiers advance, 6-4.

Michigan State jumped ahead on a three-run home run in the second inning by designated hitter Blaise Salter.

But the Hoosiers battled back two innings later with an RBI single by second baseman Micah Johnson and a sacrifice fly from Hoosiers shortstop Michael Basil to cut the lead to 3-2.

After Michigan State tacked on another run, Indiana trailed 4-2 heading into the bottom of the eighth. An RBI single by firs baseman Sam Travis started the rally and then the Hoosiers took the lead when Basil hit a two-RBI double. Third baseman Dustin DeMuth made the score 6-4 with an RBI single.

The Spartans loaded the based with no one out in the top of ninth, but they could not score a run.

On Friday, Indiana will face the winner of Purdue and Ohio State, while the Spartans also play tomorrow, but the opponent and time of the game are yet to be determined.
