College World Series 2012: Kent State Draws Kentucky In 1st Round

The Kent State Golden Flashes will play the Kentucky Wildcats in college baseball's Gary Regional on Friday.

The Kent State Golden Flashes will play the Kentucky Wildcats in the first round of the Gary Regional in college baseball postseason action.

Kent State, which has won 17 straight games, earned a No. 3 seed in the Gary Regional. The Golden Flashes won the Mid-American Conference's automatic bid with Saturday's 3-1 win over Central Michigan.

The Golden Flashes are 41-17 overall and 24-3 in the conference. Their last loss came at Penn State on April 25. On the year KSU was 23-15 away from home (6-1 in neutral-site games).

Kentucky is 43-16 overall and 14-11 away from home (3-1 in neutral-site games). UK was second in the SEC East standings behind South Carolina.

This is the second straight year the Kent State has earned a No. 3 seed in regional action.

The Gary Regional will start regional play on Friday, June 1. First pitch for Kent State is slated for 4 pm.

Should Kent State advance, the College World Series starts in Omaha on Friday, June 15.
