2012 U.S. Open: Jason Day Will Go Home If Wife Has Baby During Tournament

Jason Day plans to spend the next week in San Francisco for the U.S. Open, but he will head back home to Ohio if necessary. His wife, Ellie, is due to have their first child in four weeks' time. Day said that, even if he was leading the tournament, he wouldn't hesitate to hop on a plane if Ellie went into premature labor, via the Australian Associated Press:

"If I am doing well at the US Open and for some reason she goes into labour - I don't care about the tournament, I have to be there for the birth.

"It might sound stupid to some people to say if you're leading a major you will just leave but family comes first and I'll do that.

"My family will be there my whole life, golf won't."

Day, an Australian who lives in Columbus, knows exactly where his priorities lie.
