Derek Lowe Goes In On Dusty Baker, Making Vague References To The Past

The Cleveland Indians dropped their second straight game to the Cincinnati Reds in a rather ho-hum game that seemed to pass without incident. There was a brief kerfuffle in the top of the fifth inning when Derek Lowe pointed into the Reds dugout after an inside pitch from Cincy starter Mat Latos. After the game, Lowe went off on Dusty Baker, saying he had "zero respect" for the Reds' skipper, basing it on some falling out in the past. Lowe alleged that Baker's teams try to throw at him every chance they get. Quotes after the jump:

Via Jordan Bastian:

"I have zero respect for the guy - not that it matters. I imagine he'd say the same about me. But the [stuff] that was being said and the denials that he ended up ultimately doing was pretty sad. I'll just leave it at that. They've been trying to do this [stuff] for years, but I always came up with men on base. It's the first time it came up with no one on base. That's why I was pointing at him, because I knew why it happened. He shook his finger likehe had nothing to do with it. I guess Mat Latos just figured he'd hit me to lead off the fifth inning on his own."

Lowe and Latos are scheduled to face each other again when the series shifts to Cleveland next week on Monday. Of course, Lowe won't have to step into the batter's box for that one but we'll see if anything further transpires.
