With the field trimmed down to 72 players, the third round of the 2012 U.S. Open will begin Saturday afternoon at The Olympic Club. Tiger Woods was not as sharp on Friday compared to the shot-making of Thursday, but he held the line and is tied for the lead at 1-under. He will play in the final group of the day with Jim Furyk. The two past champions will play most of their round in primetime in the east, with a 6:05 p.m. ET start time.
A number of Americans are in the hunt either on or near the first page of the leaderboard. Jason Dufner, the Tour's hottest player coming into the week, is still in contention at 3-over. Dufner had a rocky start on Friday but managed to shoot a round of 71. He will tee off at 5:15 p.m. ET with another superstar American who's had a successful Spring, Matt Kuchar.
