Following his impressive win on Sunday at the 2012 U.S. Open at the Olympic Club, Webb Simpson has risen nine spots in the World Golf Rankings to the No. 5 position. This is Simpson's third career professional victory as his previous best finish at a major was a tie for 16th at the 2011 U.S. Open.
Despite Simpson's rise, the top-four remained unchanged as players such as Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Lee Westwood and Luke McDonald failed to put together a strong enough performance to mirror Simpson's ascension to No. 5. Graeme McDowell on the other hand was capable of turning a strong outing this weekend into tangible results as he rocketed 10-spots from the No. 21 ranking all the way to the No. 11 spot.
