Dayton Vs. TCU, 2012 NCAA Tournament Final Score: Flyers Blown Out, Lose 28-12

The Dayton Flyers are making an early exit from the NCAA Regional World Series. They lost their opener to the No. 1 seeded Texas A&M Aggies by a score of 4-1, and got a bit of bad luck by having a tough opponent in the losers bracket. The TCU Horned Frogs, who finished their season 36-20, absolutely dominated the Flyers from start to finish of their game.

After a scoreless first inning from both schools, TCU jumped ahead with four runs in the second inning, which Dayton matched in the third with four of their own. TCU added two more in the fourth, and when Dayton took the lead in the fifth with four more of their own, the gloves came off.

Burny Mitchem was burned for four runs in the sixth inning, and his replacement, Parker Schrage, didn't fare much better. All-in-all, seven runs were allowed in the sixth. It didn't get much easier in the seventh though, as TCU added on six more. Dayton went scoreless in innings six, seven and eight, while TCU apparently took a break in the eighth.

At this point, TCU is up on Dayton 19-9 heading into the top of the ninth. Naturally, TCU piled it on with nine runs in the inning, finishing with 28 runs off of 23 hits. That's right - they had more runs than hits in this one by a decent margin. Dayton added three more runs in the ninth but it wasn't enough. The final score was 28-12 for TCU.

They're now eliminated - their season coming to an end with a 31-30 overall record.
