Ohio State confirmed Saturday what had been rumored for the previous 24 hours: running back Jordan Hall has received surgery on his foot, and the team expects him to miss the next ten weeks. That likely rules him out of the Buckeyes' opener against Miami University, and he could be doubtful for Week 2's game against Central Florida. According to university spokesman Jerry Emig, Hall cut his foot while walking in a patch of grass.
The news itself broke in an unconventional and possibly unethical way (via Land-Grant Holy Land). Twitter user @BLupton22 contacted Alex Gleitman of Ohio State blog Eleven Warriors with a tip that he reportedly heard from a worker in the hospital where Hall received treatment, possibly violating Hall's right to privacy. The tweet and account have since been deleted, but Hall himself confirmed he received surgery Saturday morning via Twitter. That was followed by the official word from the university later in the afternoon.
