Kyrie Irving Impresses Superstars With USA Select Team

Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving has been the star of the USA Basketball Select Team, which has been scrimmaging against the U.S. Olympic Team in Las Vegas.

The Cavs' franchise player has earned rave reviews from their former franchise player, via Mary Schmitt Boyer of The Plain Dealer.

Asked who is standing out on the Select Team, LeBron James said, "Kyrie Irving is, definitely. For me, he stood out more than anyone. He's a great talent. I see him in a couple of years being one of the best point guards that we have in this league, one of the top five point guards.

"He has all the abilities that all the great point guards have now in our league -- ball-handling, quickness, shooting ability, and his mind is very smart, too."

Kobe Bryant said that going up against a team full of All-Stars "can't help but help" Irving in his development. With how well he's fared against the national team, perhaps the next time Irving is in this situation he'll be on the other squad.
