Indians Vs. Royals Final Score: Tribe Loses Fifth Straight

The Cleveland Indians lost their fifth game in a row on Wednesday night, falling to the Kansas City Royals 5-2 at Kauffman Stadium.

Kansas City jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, with a Carlos Santana throwing error causing a run scored by Alcides Escobar before Lorenzo Cain scored on a Billy Butler groundout.

In the second, Jarrod Dyson hit an RBI-single and Alex Gordon added an RBI-double to make it 4-0.

Santana hit a solo home run in the fourth to put the Indians on the board.

An inning later, Cain's RBI-double in the sixth gave Kansas City another four-run lead.

Asdrubal Cabrera scored Jack Hannahan in the eighth to make it 5-2 and that's how it would stay.

Zach McCallister fell to 4-3 on the year, giving up five hits and five runs (four earned) in six innings.

Luis Mendoza (5-7) pitched seven and one-third innings, giving up just four hits and two runs, striking out three. Greg Holland picked up his first save of the year for the Roya.s

The series will conclude on Thursday, with the first pitch scheduled for 8:10 p.m. ET.
