Browns Vs. Lions: Shurmur Focuses On Positives From Brandon Weeden's Debut

The Cleveland Browns earned a 19-17 preseason win over the Detroit Lions in rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden's first NFL action.

The Browns' starting QB looked every bit the rookie during his three offensive drives on the field, however. Weeden finished completing three of nine passes for 62 yards and one interception. Coach Pat Shurmur elected to focus on the positives.

"I thought Brandon did a good job," Shurmur said at halftime. "It looked like the game was slow for him. He was out there and he executed pretty well. I think he would want that one back on the interception. It was in tight coverage. The ball was a pretty good ball and we've got to make that play. I think for the most part, he executed in a way that I thought he would."

Weeden did have a highlight throw among his spotty play, a 34-yard completion to rookie wide receiver Travis Benjamin. Dawgs By Nature took a closer look at the play, showing an impressive play from the two rookies.
