PGA Championship 2012 Prize Money: Winner Rory McIlroy Awarded $1.44 Million Of Tournament's $8 Million Purse

Not only did Rory McIlroy enter the golfing record books on Sunday for one of the most thorough victories in major history, but the 23-year-old Irish born prodigy will also bring home a handy $1.44 million for his efforts at Kiawah Island's Ocean Course during the week.

McIlroy earned every last penny of his top prize for his impressive eight-stroke victory, while second place finisher David Lynn also took home a nice chunk of change with a $865,000 prize. A four-man tie for third place afforded six men at least $384,500 in prize money, while day two leader Tiger Woods couldn't quite find his groove on Sunday and was unable to finish in the top seven.

First place: Rory McIlroy, $1,445,000
Second place: David Lynn, $865,000
Tie for third: Carl Pettersson $384,500
Tie for third: Justin Rose $384,500
Tie for third: Keegan Bradley $384,500
