Ohio State announced Friday that defensive lineman Adam Bellamy has left the team for personal reasons.
Bellamy had missed the past several practices and was not present at media day and the team photo on Sunday, so his status seemed to be up in the air for a while.
Position coach Mike Vrabel did leave open the possibility of Bellamy returning, according to Cleveland.com:
"Adam is working through some personal family matters right now and when he gets that taken care of, we will welcome him back with open arms. We miss him in our (meeting) room and when Adam gets those things take care of he's going to be able to come back."
Bellamy was a fourth-year junior who started 10 games at defensive tackle last season. He recorded 25 tackles and one sack and was listed as a co-starter at defense end entering camp this year.
