The 2012 college football season kicked off to a rousing start on Thursday night, and there was plenty of MACtion on the docket. Both Kent State and Akron hosted games on Thursday and there were plenty of lowlights. Akron was blown out, 56-14, by Central Florida. Kent State, however, opened the season with a 41-21 win over FBS Towson. But the game certainly won't be remembered for the win.
At the end of the first half, the Golden Flashes punted away to Towson. The Tigers' punt returner had the ball bounce right through his arms and into the cradling hands of Kent State's waiting Andre Carter. Unfortunately, Carter pulled his best Jim Marshall impression and squandered an opportunity to take it in for an easy six. Carter took it 65 yards the wrong way before he was (also inexplicably) knocked out of bounds by Towson. Video after the jump:
