Cleveland Indians Release Johnny Damon

After being designated for assignment earlier in the week, Johnny Damon was officially released by the Cleveland Indians on Thursday, Major League Baseball confirmed.

Damon played in 64 games for the Indians this season. He hit .222 with four home runs and 19 RBI.

The 38-year old is expected to try to continue his career elsewhere. At 2,769 career hits, he could have a chance at 3,000 if he can hang around in the league for a few more seasons.

If this is the end of the line for Damon, his last hit was a single off of Luke Hochevar on July 31 when the Indians fell to the Kansas City Royals, 8-3.
