U.S. Open 2012: Andy Murray Defeats Novak Djokovic For First Grand Slam Title

Andy Murray upset Novak Djokovic to win the 2012 U.S. Open on Monday night. It is the first grand slam tournament win of Murray's career and comes on the heels of his gold medal in the Olympics.

The No. 3 Murray started out strong, taking the first set on a 12-10 tiebreaker and the second set 7-5, but his first grand slam win wasn't going to be easy. Djokovic responded by taking the next two sets in fairly dominating fashion, 6-2 and 6-3.

But Murray found the strength to take the final set 6-2 for perhaps the biggest win of his career.

Djokovic had the advantage in several stats, including aces, winners, net points and break points, but Murray had nine fewer errors in the match, which lasted almost five hours.
