U.S. Open 2012 Scores: Andy Roddick Advances To Quarterfinals

American Andy Roddick continues his march through the field at the 2012 U.S. Open in Flushing Meadows, as he won his third-round match against Fabio Fognini, 7-5, 7-6, 4-6, 6-4.

Roddick used long rallies to wear Fognini down throughout the afternoon. Although Fognini showed signs of life, he could not rally. A huge key was Roddick's ability to serve accurately. He did not have a double fault while Fognini shot eight.

Another way Roddick was able to pull out the win was by winning the majority of the rallies that went over eight shots.

He will now advance to the quarterfinals where he will face Juan Martin Del Potro. After announcing that this would be his last tournament as a professional, he has won his last two matches.
