The 2012 Ryder Cup is set to begin on Friday with action from the Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois. The United States will attempt to win just its second Ryder Cup since 2002.
While the three-day event begins Friday, that doesn't mean there won't be plenty going on leading up to the event. Practice rounds begin Tuesday morning with the previous Ryder Cup captain and celebrity scramble also scheduled for Tuesday.
Another practice and the Ryder Cup Gala headline Wednesday's events. The Ryder Cup Gala is a red-carpet event which will feature the teams as well as musicians and other celebrities. Players will play their final practice round on Thursday.
The tournament begins Friday morning with the first of four foursomes teeing off at 7:20 a.m. ET. Friday's afternoon session, which will feature four fourball sessions, will begin at 12:05 p.m. ET. Saturday's schedule will mirror Friday's with foursome play in the morning and fourball in the afternoon. The Ryder Cup will wrap up on Sunday with 12 singles matches. The matches will begin at 11:03 a.m. with closing ceremonies set for 5:30 p.m. or 30 minutes after play concludes.
