Munchie Legaux hooked up with Damon Julian for a 39-yard touchdown pass with only 13 seconds remaining Saturday to lead the Cincinnati Bearcats past the Virginia Tech Hokies, 27-24.
The touchdown capped off a back-and-forth fourth quarter than included four lead changes. The victory is big step for the Bearcats early on in 2012. Cincinnati is 3-0, and quarterback Munchie Legaux is proving he can make the big plays when needed. As Matt Opper of SB Nation's Cincinnati Bearcats blog Down the Drive writes, the team needed a big non-conference win, and on Saturday they got just that.
The Bearcats went into Washington DC this afternoon desperately craving a big non conference win against a name program. Something that has escaped the Bearcats in the Butch Jones era, and much, much longer than that. Tonight they walk out of FedEx Field with just that, coming up with just that, courtesy of a monster game from Munchie Leguax...Everyone made big plays, but Munchie Legaux made the biggest ones of all, and shut his haters up in the process.
Legaux was 19-of-42 for 376 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. He also rushed 11 times for 27 yards. Cincinnati's next game comes Saturday against Miami (OH).
