After sitting out college football's opening weekend with a bye, the Cincinnati Bearcats will open their 2012 season on Thursday night against the Pittsburgh Panthers at Nippert Stadium.
The Bearcats plan to enter the campaign with new starter Munchie Legaux under center at quarterback, as Butch Jones' team hopes to get started on the right foot with the dual-threat athlete running the show. Legaux, a 6'5", 200-pound junior who threw for five touchdowns and ran for two more in spot-starting duty last season, is expected to flourish in his first year as the unquestioned starter.
Cincinnati will face a Pittsburgh team that dropped its opener to Youngstown State in disheartening fashion in Week 1, making it quite clear that Legaux and starting tailback Ralph David Abernathy IV will need to come out effectively with the Panthers already in desperation mode.
Game time/date: 8 p.m. ET, Thursday, Sept. 6
Location: Nippert Stadium, Cincinnati, Ohio
TV: ESPN
Odds: Pitt - 4 (VegasInsider)
