U.S. Open 2012 Score Update: David Ferrer Advances Over Janko Tipsarevic

David Ferrer, fourth-seeded in the 2012 U.S. Open men's singles draw, advanced to his second career semi-final match with a win over Janko Tipsarevic on Thursday. Ferrer took Sets 1, 4 and 5 with scores of 6-3, 6-3 and 7-6. The two sets won by Tipsarevic were by scores of 7-6 and 6-2.

Ferrer edged out Tipsarevic in aces, 15 to 10, bested him in unforced errors, picking up only 44 to Tipsarevic's 58, and was ahead in total points won, 173 to 159. Tipsarevic had the advantage in double-faults, not collecting any while Ferrer had six.

Ferrer now advances to face the winner of second-seeded Novak Djokovic vs. seventh-seeded Martin Del Potro. That match was scheduled for Thursday evening.
