U.S. Open Women's Final Result: Serena Williams Defeats Victoria Azarenka

Serena Williams came all the way back from the brink of elimination to defeat Victoria Azarenka in the U.S. Open Women's final, 6-2, 2-6, 7-5.

After they split the first two sets, Azarenka jumped out to a 5-3 lead in the final set and looked ready to put the match away, when Serena then reeled of four straight game victories to clinch her fourth title.

Williams made 45 unforced errors to Azarenka's 28, but made up for it with 13 aces, as her serve got her through tough stretches of the match. Azarenka made a double fault at a crucial point in the third set that allowed Serena to gain momentum.

The win wraps up an incredible summer for Williams, whose wins included singles and doubles championships at Wimbledon, the Olympics and now a singles title at the U.S. Open.
