NFL power rankings: Browns finish at No. 23

The Cleveland Browns finished the season ranked No. 23 in SB Nation's power rankings.

With Week 17 wrapped up, there's one more week of meaningful power rankings for the non-playoff teams in the NFL. Joel Thorman of SB Nation released his latest rankings, and the Cleveland Browns are at No. 23.

23. Cleveland Browns (LW: 21, 5-11): The Browns staff has been cleared out. You never know how that will affect the team, but the Browns were headed in the right direction. Who knows if the next regime will keep them headed that way.

That ranking places Cleveland above a few teams with better records, namely all of the 6-10 teams in the NFL, including the New York Jets, Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans. Many had predicted a season with a couple wins for the Browns, so they exceeded expectations. Now it will be interesting to see which head coach they decide to bring in.

After a 5-11 season, Cleveland is cleaning out its entire coaching staff and starting fresh. That may seem like a good thing, but 5-11 is much better than many expected from the Browns this season, and the team was clearly headed in the right direction on the field. It will be interesting to see where they go from here.
