The University of Akron will hold a press conference Thursday to address the hiring of former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel.
The release does not specify what Tressel's role at the university will be.
According to Cleveland’s Channel 5 News,
The school sent a news release saying the event will feature President Luis Proenza and Jim Tressel, but did not specify a position.
A spokesperson for the school told NewsChannel5 Tressel will make about $200,000 per year.
The university statement says,
"When Jim Tressel and other alumni assisted us in our search for a football coach last December, we began to engage in dynamic conversations about Jim’s professional goals outside of athletics. We share a common interest in innovative programs for student success. Our discussions continue."
As of 8:50 a.m. Thursday morning, Tressel’s Wikipedia page said,
On February 2, 2012 University of Akron announced the hiring of Jim Tressel as an Administrator.
Tressel's coaching career began at Akron, where he was a graduate assistant. He spent 10 years at Ohio State, resigning after the 2010 season.
