Indians telecasts will return to Fox Sports Ohio.

After a seven-season absence, Cleveland Indians telecasts will return to FOX Sports Ohio as FOX Sports announced its purchase of SportsTime Ohio on Friday.

SportsTime Ohio (STO) became the cable home of the Indians in 2006 when the organization created the network to air its own games. As part of the purchase of STO, FOX Sports Ohio acquired "exclusive long-term local telecast rights for Indians baseball."

The new television deal is expected to give the Indians franchise additional revenue to be used in player contracts. Last week, Cleveland signed outfielder/first baseman Nick Swisher to a four-year, $56 million contract, one of the more lucrative deals of baseball's offseason.

FOX Sports Ohio now holds exclusive TV rights for several major Ohio entities, including the Indians, Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Cavaliers, Cincinnati Bearcats, Xavier Musketeers, Columbus Blue Jackets and Columbus Crew.

Possible casualties may be Mid-American Conference college and high school sports events, which had been aired on STO.

Shurmur: Browns' defense at best, prepping for RG3

The Browns' defense is healthy and preparing for the Redskins.

Cleveland Browns head coach Pat Shurmur addressed the media at a press conference on Thursday, expressing confidence in his defense as they prepare to play the Washington Redskins.

"I think we're as good as we've been to this point in the season. I think that's fair to say," Shurmur said, as he detailed the return of defensive back Dimitri Patterson and both starting defensive tackles. "We're dealing with all the bumps and bruises that everybody deals with, but that gives us the best opportunity I think to go out and have a successful game on defense."

The Browns' defense will likely need to be on its game, as the Redskins offense ranks fifth in the NFL by averaging 387 yards per game. On the other side of the ball, Cleveland ranks 23rd in the league, giving up an average of 363 yards per game.

Up in the air is the status of Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III, who suffered a knee injury on Sunday. Shurmur said he hasn't been influenced by reports that Griffin practiced on Wednesday, indicating the Browns' preparation will remain the same.

Shurmur said there's no special secret to stopping Griffin, given the Redskins' offensive success thus far:

It's about playing team defense and everybody's got to be aggressive, they've got to address their gaps, defeat their blocks and then go chase the football ... It sounds cliché but that's the way it works. Of course, now you add to it the element of the play action, which they do extremely well. Then we've got to be able to, in our preparation, read our keys and get where we need to be.

The game kicks at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.

NBA power ranks: Cavs move up despite losing skid

Recent close calls have experts feeling better about the Cavs' standing in the NBA.

Despite winning just one of their last ten games, the Cleveland Cavaliers are being viewed in a slightly better light by NBA experts across the Internet.

The Cavs' biggest move upward comes from Sam Amico of Fox Sports, who has moved Cleveland up two spots to No. 27. Amico is giving the Cavs the benefit of the doubt in two areas: "[The] Cavs have spent the majority of the early season on the road, and a portion of it without the injured Kyrie Irving."

Marc Stein of ESPN moves Cleveland up to No. 28, pointing out a road win against the L.A. Clippers and a near-win at the Miami Heat. But NBA.com's John Schuhmann isn't as impressed with the almost-wins at Miami or at the Orlando Magic. " [The Cavs] couldn't get enough stops down the stretch in those last two, because the D still stinks," Schuhmann writes.

Seth Rosenthal of SB Nation has also moved Cleveland up one spot to No. 27, citing a " moderately un-terrible" bench as a culprit for the apparent improvement. "C.J. Miles and Omri Casspi have finally had some moments and Jeremy Pargo -- the hero of that win over the Sixers -- should be a genuinely solid back-up once Irving returns," according to Rosenthal.
