The Cleveland Browns could find some top pass rushing talent in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

The Cleveland Browns are hoping to field a strong team on the back of their defense in 2013. While they invested heavily into the offense in the 2012 NFL Draft, those picks may or may not actually pan out, and under a new regime, they turned their attention to the defensive side of the ball in free agency.

With guys like Desmond Bryant and Paul Kruger coming in, the Browns could be on the verge of contending. With the No. 6 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, they stand a chance at adding a real impact player. The big question is whether they'll add an offensive or defensive player.

Don Banks of SI.com released his latest mock draft on Wednesday, and he has the Browns going with the latter, bringing in BYU defensive end Ezekiel Ansah.

With both Milliner and Jordan selected above them, the Browns would continue their offseason upgrade of the pass rush, taking the talented but relatively inexperienced Ansah. He has obvious potential that equates to a top 10 draft slot, but he requires a bit more projection than many of his highly regarded classmates.

It's true that Ansah's positioning is hard to project. Many have the Detroit Lions taking him at No. 5, jut before the Browns pick. That's primarily due to the team's familiarity with him, though, and most feel like he may fall a bit if the Lions don't go with him.

Still, Ansah would be an immediate starter for the Browns and would improve upon the team's pass rush, which has been a point of focus. In the latest mock draft from SB Nation, Dan Kadar has Alabama cornerback Dee Milliner going to the Browns at No. 6, but he was already gone in Banks' mock, getting picked at No. 4 by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Will the Cleveland Browns land their No. 2 cornerback to pair with Joe Haden in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft?

The Cleveland Browns have been making some big-time signings in hopes of improving heading into next season, after they fielded a rather competitive team in 2012. They still finished with a losing record, of course, but their defense is improving by leaps and bounds.

One could say that the Browns are on the verge of putting out an elite defense. Joe Haden is the cornerstone of that defense, and this offseason, the Browns added players like Paul Kruger and Desmond Bryant to help improve it. With the No. 6 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Browns stand to add an impact player, but will they go with an offensive or defensive player?

Dan Kadar of SB Nation posted his latest mock draft on Monday and he has the Browns going with the latter, adding Alabama cornerback Dee Milliner at pick No. 6:

The Browns have sort of painted themselves into a corner with the sixth pick. Get it? Another joke. Come on, it's April Fool's. Anyway, the Browns have gone after the better starting cornerbacks in free agency and come up empty. The player opposite Joe Haden is the defense's biggest need, and Milliner is a good value.

While true that a No. 2 cornerback is generally the defense's biggest need, it would be a bold move to go with a player like Milliner while the offense is lagging so far behind the defense. But establishing a tandem of Haden and Milliner would likely push the defense into elite territory, and if that's how the Browns want to build the team, they'll be in good company.

Milliner would instantly be the No. 2 corner behind Haden, who is one of the league's top corners when healthy and playing. Just check out Milliner's scouting report here if you're in doubt regarding his talent.

Could the Cleveland Browns continue their offseason additions to the defense by taking cornerback Dee Milliner with their first-round pick?

The Cleveland Browns were much better than expected last season, but remain in a transition period. After heavily investing in the offense in last year's draft with a first-round running back and quarterback, the team is expected to make some changes on that side of the ball. Namely, they may be looking for a new quarterback to replace Brandon Weeden.

Whether or not they'll address that particular need in the first round of the draft is up for debate, however. The Browns have a defense that is one or two good players away from being a real force in the NFL, and making that an area of strength could be a priority in the draft as well.

Matthew Fairburn and Dan Kadar collaborated on the latest SB Nation mock draft on Monday, and they have the Browns doing just that, taking cornerback Dee Milliner of Alabama:

The Browns just spent big on the pass rush in free agency, freeing them up to address the secondary. Dee Milliner is the draft's best cornerback and could form a great tandem with Joe Haden.

It's true that the Browns loaded up on defense in free agency, and Milliner almost seems like overkill. That said, he's a fantastic player and Haden is already one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. It would be one of the best tandems in the NFL if Milliner were to work out. Judging by the SB Nation scouting report, it seems like he might.

The Cleveland Browns could be after pass rushing help in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

The Cleveland Browns are right on the cusp of being a good team, they just have to make some very important decisions on both sides of the ball. On offense, they have a very iffy situation at the quarterback position and need to make a decision there, but on defense, they might be a player or two away from having something special.

Do they address the needs on the offensive side of the ball or do they look to improve their defense by adding a pass rusher to attempt to make the jump from good to elite on that side of the ball?

Matthew Fairburn of SB Nation released his latest mock draft, and he has the Browns electing to bolster their defense. He has them taking Dion Jordan, an outside linebacker and defensive end out of Oregon:

Dion Jordan's shoulder injury is the only thing keeping him out of the top five picks. He's a player that can dominate in a 3-4 defense. He's the best edge rusher in this draft and excels in coverage. Strength is the only area of concern for Jordan, but he knows it and insists it will be his main focus after rehab.

Jordan has been considered a defensive end by some, but for the Browns, he would surely be a 3-4 outside linebacker. He's one of the better pass rushers in this draft and can drop back to cover tight ends, which is a bonus for the Browns.

As noted, Jordan does have some concerns, but he continues to be counted as a top 10 pick in most mock drafts around the Internet. The Browns desperately need someone who can rush the passer and Jordan fits the bill.

The Cleveland Browns could bolster their secondary in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft, especially if the top pass rushers are gone by No. 6.

The Cleveland Browns may have a top pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, but they were a much-improved team this past season. They were actually competitive in most of their games last year, and made serious strides on both sides of the ball.

However, a new ownership led to a new coaching staff, and how good they'll be in 2013 is anybody's guess. All that's known is what their needs are and what needs to improve on both sides of the ball, even if the quarterback position is a question mark despite last season's first round pick at the position.

One thing they do have is a strong defense, and at the top-end of this draft, defensive players are probably the way to go. Dan Kadar of SB Nation released his latest mock draft on Monday and he has the Browns doing just that, taking cornerback Dee Milliner out of Alabama:

If Jordan, Mingo and Moore are gone, the Browns could be left choosing between Georgia's Jarvis Jones and Milliner. Either choice would help the team's defense. Corner Sheldon Brown was routinely beat in coverage, and the Browns could finally be looking for an upgrade opposite Joe Haden. That could bump Brown over to safety, fixing up the team's entire secondary. With the second most free agent money to spend, Cleveland could be hot after Baltimore's Paul Kruger.

Cleveland will likely be looking for a player to bolster their pass rush at the top-end of the draft, but if things go just the right way for the teams above Cleveland, then they could be left without one of the premier rushes at No. 6.

They already boast a strong passing defense with relatively strong safety play and Joe Haden, one of the league's best corners. Milliner would fit the "best player available" strategy that is generally accepted as the smart path early in the first round, and he'd likely come right in and start opposite Haden to create an elite secondary.

Full schedule for the NBA All-Star Weekend Three-Point Contest on Saturday.

On Saturday night, one of the main attractions of NBA All-Star Weekend is set to go down: the Three-Point Contest. While there's plenty of substance-lacking spectacle during All-Star Weekend, the Three-Point Contest has remained one of the more impressive showings of the festivities.

Follow all of SB Nation's 2013 NBA All-Star Game coverage

Some of the top long-distance shooters in the league will compete to see who gets the title this year, including Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Last year's winner, Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timberwolves, is unable to defend his crown due to his hand injury. Still, there's some solid players competing.

The Eastern Conference will be represented by Irving, Paul George of the Indiana Pacers and Steve Novak of the New York Knicks. The Western Conference will be represented by Ryan Anderson of the New Orleans Hornets, Matt Bonner of the San Antonio Spurs and Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors.

Five shooting stations will be set up around the three-point line, and players will shoot from the different position, earning points over the course of one minute. The two highest scorers will face off in the finals.

The coverage of All-Star Saturday begins at 8:30 p.m. ET, and the Three-Point Contest is the third event on the schedule, after the Shooting Stars and Skills Challenge events. It will all go down at the Toyota Center in Houston and it will be on TNT.

Could the Cleveland Browns add a pass rusher in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft?

The Cleveland Browns were a much better team than many figured they would be this past season, with a defense bordering on elite and an offense that made more strides than projected. Still, they're picking at the top end of the 2013 NFL Draft, so they didn't make that big of a jump.

But the draft will likely remain their primary source of improvement going forward. They've got a new coaching staff and have needs on both sides of the ball. Most figure they need to continue looking at the quarterback position, and most figure they need to add a pass rusher to help what is actually a rather strong secondary.

Matthew Fairburn and Dan Kadar collaborated on the latest mock from SB Nation on Monday, and they have the Browns taking the latter, drafting defensive end/outside linebacker Damontre Moore out of Texas A&M:

While Moore was a star as defensive end in 2012, his first two years at A&M as an outside linebacker. The Browns need pass rush help, as they move to the 3-4 defense. Moore could be lined up opposite Jabaal Sheard and quickly give Cleveland a pair of linebackers that can rush the passer and stop the run.

The Browns have Joe Haden in their secondary, but he can only do so much when they don't have much pass rushing to speak of. They improved in their run defense in 2012, but they really do need someone to get after the quarterback to take some of the pressure off the secondary.

Moore would fit that role well, and is arguably the top pass rusher in the draft. It's certainly possible he'd be there at No. 6 and it looks like a smart pick altogether.

Will the Cleveland Browns strengthen their defense with a pass rusher in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft?

Super Bowl XLVII is in the books, and now all 32 teams will focus on the offseason ahead in preparation for the next go-round. The Scouting Combine is later this month, free agency begins in March and the 2013 NFL Draft is in April. For the Cleveland Browns, they had a better season than anticipated in 2012, but they still have a long way to go.

They hold the No. 6 overall pick in the NFL Draft, which is actually higher than people figured they'd have. That's how bad the Browns have been in the past: avoiding a top-five pick is exceeding expectations. Still, the Browns will need to add some more young talent to really make the jump to being a dangerous team next season.

Matthew Fairburn of SB Nation released his latest mock draft on Monday and he has the Browns going defense, taking Damontre Moore, a defensive end out of Texas A&M.

The Browns plan to run multiple fronts under new defensive coordinator Ray Horton. The team is in severe need of a pass rusher, and Damontre Moore played in both the 3-4 and the 4-3 while at Texas A&M. He would make a ton of sense here.

While picking based on need early in the draft is generally considered the wrong course of action, Moore has been mocked as high as No. 2 by respectable mocks around the Internet, so it's not a reach by any means.

The pick makes sense from a need perspective, of course, but it's not as though Cleveland has a bad defense. It's actually become something of a strength lately, and reinforcing that strength might be their key to truly competing in the NFL. Great teams have balance on both sides of the ball, but making their way toward an elite defense is a good start for the Browns.

Will the Cleveland Browns look to address an offensive need, or go with the best player available and likely take a defensive player at the top end of the 2013 NFL Draft?

The Cleveland Browns can't quite count themselves among the NFL's elite, but they did much better this past season than many expected. Their defense is really coming along and they added some exciting players to their offense, even if quarterback Brandon Weeden might not be the quarterback of the future.

Still, despite playing better than expected, they still have a top 10 pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. They're picking at No. 6, and they have an opportunity to add yet another young, exciting player. Do they go with a defensive player to bolster that unit and make it their strength, or will they go with the offensive side of the ball?

Dan Kadar of SB Nation released his latest mock draft on Monday, and he has the Browns strengthening their defense, taking outside linebacker/defensive end Barkevious Mingo out of LSU.

New defensive coordinator Ray Horton was blunt last week stating the Browns are playing a 3-4 defense and not a hybrid scheme. With that, Cleveland needs to add a pass rush threat at linebacker. If that's where they go in the first round, the pick should be between Mingo and Jarvis Jones. Mingo gets the nod due to his pure upside. He's the kind of player who will win the offseason process and test out well at the NFL Combine and his pro day.

Cleveland already boasts a strong pass defense with Joe Haden at cornerback, but adding a guy like Mingo can only help things up front. Cleveland will run a 3-4 defense, and Mingo can stand up and rush the passer on every single down.

Getting to the quarterback can only make things easier on that pass defense, and it also would fit the model of "best player available," which is generally considered to be the winning strategy at the top end of the draft.
