Tyler Zeller injury update: X-rays on Cavs center's face negative

The Cavaliers rookie center took a nasty elbow to the face late Monday night against the Clippers.

X-rays on Cleveland Cavalier Tyler Zeller's face came back negative on Monday night, after the big man exited early against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Plain Dealer's Mary Schmitt Boyer reported that he will be reexamined on Tuesday in San Francisco, as the team prepares to take on the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night.

Zeller took an elbow to his left cheek bone from DeAndre Jordan with 5:39 to play. It was incidental contact as Jordan and Zeller both went up to pull a board off the glass, but the rookie from North Carolina bore the brunt of the contact. Zeller immediately crumpled to the floor while the Clippers ran out on a five-on-four break. He remained face down on the floor for an extended period of time, being tended to by trainer Max Benton. He walked off to the locker room but did not return for the Cavs thrilling fourth quarter win.

Prior to the injury, Zeller grabbed 15 points and seven rebounds. He was replaced by Tristan Thompson.
