Browns Waive RB James Davis, Sign RB Thomas Clayton

A day after beating the defending Super Bowl champions, the Cleveland Browns made a roster move, releasing RB James Davis and claimed RB Thomas Clayton off waivers from the New England Patriots according to Adam Caplan of FoxSports.

Davis was a 6th round draft pick of the Browns in 2009 and was impressive during his rookie preseason.  Injuries derailed him, however, and the acquisition of Peyton Hillis made Davis expendable.  Davis had nine yards on just four carries this season.

Clayton was a member of the Browns practice squad until Sept. 30, when the Patriots signed him to their active roster.  He was inactive for both games as a Patriot and now returns to Cleveland.  Clayton was a 6th round pick by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2007 draft.
