The Browns got first downs on their first two plays before stalling and settling for a 38-yard field goal, then proceeded to recover a fumble deep in New England territory on the ensuing kickoff. Two plays later, Peyton Hillis scored from two yards out and the extra point gave Cleveland a stunning 10-0 lead with less than four minutes gone.
After a Hillis fumble later in the quarter, the Browns got the ball back and drove into New England territory but were forced to punt toward the end of the period, which ended with Cleveland again getting the ball after a punt at midfield.
The Browns have had it all over the Patriots statistically, with seven first downs against only one for New England, and with an astonishing 132-21 advantage in total yardage.
