Cleveland Browns News: Browns Release WR Brian Robiskie

The Cleveland Browns officially announced an agreement with running back Thomas Clayton to a contract while releasing wide receiver Brian Robiskie.

Robiskie, the former Ohio State standout, never could get his career off the ground after being drafted in the 2nd Round of the 2009 NFL Draft. After a career-high 29 receptions in 2010, Robiskie had just 3 catches for 25 yards in six games in 2011.

Clayton is in his second tour with the Browns after spending time with Cleveland and the New England Patriots in 2010. Clayton could be pressed right into duty with the Browns’ running backs decimated by injury.

Peyton Hillis has been hobbled much of the season with various injuries, most notably a hamstring injury suffered in the Browns’ loss to the Oakland Raiders. His replacement, Montario Hardesty, suffered a ‘moderate tear’ in his calf muscle and will miss at least 2 games.

The situation is so dire that the Browns have considered Josh Cribbs for backfield duty.
