Peyton Hillis Injury Update: Browns RB Ruled Out Against Jaguars, T.J. Ward Also Out

The Cleveland Browns will be without their star running back once again on Sunday, when they take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. According to Mary Kay Cabot, Browns' Head Coach Pat Shurmur said on Monday that Peyton Hillis would be out with his lingering hamstring injury. Hillis has missed several games, and at one point, seemed close to returning, taking some time in practice to work a little and see how it held up. Eventually, before the game against the Texans two weeks ago, Hillis had his hamstring tighten up and he was immediately declared out.

At the beginning of last week, Hillis was declared out before any other injury report information was given. This week, he's out again, several days early, so the injury is looking worse. It is possible that Hillis is nearing the time where he can return, but after two separate occasions in which Hillis re-injured the hamstring, the team could be playing it very safe.

Also of note is the fact that safety T.J. Ward will be out on Sunday with a foot injury. Ward is set to have his cast changed on Monday and will get another X-ray before the team decides what to do with him, though Shurmur did say that there are no plans to place either him or Hillis on injured reserve and he hopes they'll both be back this season.
