There are hated figures in Cleveland sports - Art Modell, LeBron James, Braylon Edwards. All, for different reasons, have become vilified in the minds and hearts of Cleveland fans. Edwards announced today, however, that he will keep a promis he made way back in 2007 when he was still a member of the Cleveland Browns - he's providing scholarships to 100 Cleveland-area high school students that are graduating and moving on to college.
↵"As the 2nd most hated man in Clev. & a man of my word," Edwards said, "today I will honor a promise made to 100 students in Cleveland years ago. The last of my Advance 100 students will graduate from my program and head off to college on scholarships that I will provide them with. Guys enjoy & embrace your new beginnings and remember your promise to me, to reach back & help someone else along the way."
↵Edwards, of course, is not the 2nd most hated man in Cleveland. At best he's third, though Jose Mesa may give him a run for his money, along with John Elway.
↵Anyway, a nice gesture by Edwards to keep the promise he made four years ago, and kudos to the graduating students as well. Perhaps one of them can catch the football!
