Cleveland Browns News: Joe Thomas Gets 7-Year $84 Million Extension

The Cleveland Browns paid their big left tackle some big time money, agreeing to a new 7-year deal with Joe Thomas.

The Cleveland Browns were not very active during free agency.  What they promised, however, was to spend money to lock up the youthful core of the improving team.  They have started that process tonight by announcing a new 7-year, $84 million extension with left tackle Joe Thomas.  According to Adam Schefter, the deal will include $44 million in guaranteed money.

While Thomas has to be excited to get his new contract, Browns quarterback Colt McCoy has to be ecstatic.  It didn't take long for Colt to comment on Thomas' new deal, and even poke fun at the protector of his blindside.

Looks like big Joe should have bought dinner for us tonight.. Congrats Joe! #gobrownsless than a minute ago via Twitter for iPhone Favorite Retweet Reply
