NFL Draft 2012: Kendall Wright A Possibility At 22nd Overall

Pretty much everyone and his mother is predicting the same thing for the Browns with their top pick in the NFL draft, Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III. Whether they're planning on trading up to get him at second overall or just hoping that the St. Louis Rams and Minnesota Vikings don't trade their picks for another QB hungry team, Griffin is the flavor of the month in Cleveland right now.

A far more intriguing story is who the Browns will take with their second pick in the first round at 22nd overall. If Cleveland get Griffin it's likely they're going to need to grab either some offensive line strength to help protect Griffin or a playmaker to boost their weak relatively receiving corps. WalterFootball has Baylor WR Kendall Wright mocked to the Browns at 22nd, and gives some fairly sound reasoning as to why:

When teams draft a quarterback early, they typically like to complement their new signal-caller with some protection or a play-maker. Think Matthew Stafford-Brandon Pettigrew, Sam Bradford-Rodger Saffold, Christian Ponder-Kyle Rudolph, and so on.

The top available offensive talent on the board is Robert Griffin's teammate, Kendall Wright. He would serve as a much-needed deep threat in Cleveland's stagnant offense, with Greg Little moving over as a No. 2 wideout, which is the role he should play.

There is of course a good chance that the Browns trade the pick, but it's hard to see how grabbing a talented wide receiver that Griffin would already be familiar with would be a bad idea.
