Coaches and management are always cautioning players to watch what they tweet. Maybe newspaper staffs need to do a better job of that, too.
↵After a vitriolic tweet about Browns owner Randy Lerner landed Plain Dealer writer Tony Grossi in some hot water last week, Vince Grzegorek of Scene Magazine is reporting that the PD's go-to Browns writer has been removed from his post.
↵The tweet read that Lerner was "a pathetic figure, the most irrelevant billionaire in the world." The Plain Dealer later issued an apology, saying:
↵Last night, Plain Dealer Browns beat reporter Tony Grossi made an inadvertent, inappropriate post to Twitter concerning Browns owner Randy Lerner. Grossi has reached out to Lerner to apologize. The Plain Dealer also apologizes.↵
Grossi has been nefarious in the past in his scathing criticisms of former coach Eric Mangini, and was never seen as the most objective of beat writers, even on his best days.
↵It isn't instantly clear who would take over, although I'm sure Plain Dealer Mary Kay Cabot, who shares the beat, will be near the top of the list.
