After placing starting left guard Jason Pinkston on the injured reserve, the Cleveland Browns have signed Jarrod Shaw off their practice squad to add depth to their offensive line, as Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports. Pinkston was hospitalized last Thursday with a blood clot in his lung, ending his 2012 season.
Shaw, 24, was signed to the Browns practice squad before the 2011 season, and he's been there ever since. An undrafted rookie out of the University of Tennessee last year, Shaw has experience playing both guard and tackle positions from his days with the Volunteers.
In addition to signing Shaw off the practice squad, the Browns also filled his spot on the practice squad roster by signing offensive lineman Bryant Browning, a Cleveland native. Browning played for the Ohio State Buckeyes in college and spent the first six weeks of this season on the Carolina Panthers practice squad.
