Jason Pinkston remains in hospital with blood clot

Cleveland Browns left guard Jason Pinkston remains in the hospital while being treated for a blood clot in his lung, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports. The 25-year-old was rushed to the emergency room Thursday after the potentially life-threatening situation was discovered.

A starter at his position for Cleveland since the beginning of the 2011 season, Pinkston's life beyond football is of the utmost importance at this point, although the possibility that he returns to the playing field at some point still remains. Doctors haven't determined the cause of his problems, though, which complicates the situation.

As Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports, Pinkston was scheduled to leave the hospital by now, but his stay has been extended for further treatment. A fifth-round pick by the Browns out of the University of Pittsburgh last year, he was emerging as a core part of the team's offensive line before the injury.
