The Cleveland Browns waived injured defensive end Marcus Benard from the team's injured reserve list on Tuesday, according to reports.
The Browns waived an injured Benard toward the end of preseason after he dislocated his left elbow during a preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles on August 24th. After no other teams picked up Benard, he returned to the IR list for Cleveland until today when the team let him go.
Benard is in his fourth season in the NFL out of Jackson State and was trying to return to the field after his 2011 season was cut short due to injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident during the season in October.
The defensive end showed promise during his second season in 2010 when he played in 15 games with 28 tackles and led the team with 7.5 sacks.
The Browns also opened up a spot on their practice squad by cutting linebacker Benjamin Jacobs.
