The Cleveland Browns have signed defensive lineman Ricky Elmore to its practice squad, the team announced on Tuesday. Elmore spent three weeks with the Arizona Cardinals this season before being released on Sept. 25.
Prior to that, Elmore was a sixth round pick out of the University of Arizona in the 2011 draft. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers, but by the time the 2011 postseason came along, Elmore was already on the practice squad of the San Francisco 49ers. He was also in training camp this season with the San Diego Chargers before catching on with the Cardinals.
Elmore, who is 24 years old, has yet to record a stat in an NFL game. At Arizona, he recorded 25.5 sacks for his career, which is second in school history. He also finished his career with 33.5 tackles for loss.
Cleveland's pass rush has been in the middle of the pack this season, with 20 sacks through nine games.
