Ravens vs. Browns update: Cleveland defense stiffens in third

The Cleveland Browns haven't been able to punch the ball into the end zone, but they only trail by a score of 14-12 after three quarters thanks to a defense that has stiffened up.

Phil Dawson hit his fourth field goal of the game with 2:42 remaining in the third quarter. The 33-yard field goal was the longest of his four scores, which tells you all you need to know about Cleveland's failure to score in the red zone.

And after a first quarter where Baltimore controlled both sides of the ball, the Browns offense has actually moved quite well outside of the red zone troubles. Cleveland has 14 first downs to 12 by Baltimore, and the Browns have outgained the Ravens 245 yards to 193.

Meanwhile, Baltimore has struggled to move the ball. The Ravens had four three-and-outs in the third quarter and one of those times failed to capitalize on a Brandon Weeden pass that was intercepted by cornerback Cary Williams, who returned it 26 yards to the Cleveland 39-yard line.

With 21 carries, Trent Richardson is two yards shy of eclipsing the 100-yard mark for the third time this year.
