2012 NFL Draft: Browns Talk Trade With Rams Regarding No. 2 Pick, Robert Griffin II, According To Sources

The Cleveland Browns have had "preliminary talks" with the St. Louis Rams about trading up for the No. 2 pick to select Robert Griffin III, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch (via Mary Kay Cabot, The Plain Dealer).

The Browns have both the No. 4 and No. 22 overall picks in the 2012 NFL Draft and are apparently enamored with the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback. According to the report, two other teams with top ten picks have also discussed potential trades with the Rams.

St. Louis is fielding offers for the pick because they are content with the development of their third-year quarterback, Sam Bradford and trading for multiple first-round picks could be more valuable.

Cleveland, however, is not sold on Colt McCoy as their franchise quarterback. McCoy has a career completion percentage under sixty, has thrown as many interceptions as touchdowns in his two-year career, and ranked 27th last season in passer rating.

The draft stock of Robert Griffin III raised even higher after his fantastic showing at the NFL Combine. Griffin III measured at just above six-foot-two, ran the 40-yard dash in 4.41 seconds, and led all quarterbacks with a vertical leap of 39 inches. Check out the video of Griffin III's 40-yard dash below:
