The Super Bowl has turned into quite the event, even if your favorite team missed the game. Even if you're a little heartbroken about that missed field goal or fumbled punt that would've sent your team to Indianapolis, that doesn't mean you cannot have a great time watching the game. Between the food and drinks, commercials and prop bets to place with your buddies, there's surely something for you to enjoy.
Thanks to the good guys at Bovada, we have gathered a few of the more interesting prop bets for Super Bowl XLVI. Please remember these are just for fun and entertainment purposes only, but hey, if you can score a quick $20 from your college roommate, why not?
How long will it take Kelly Clarkson to sing the National Anthem?
Over one minute, 34 seconds (-130)
Under one minutes, 34 seconds (-110)
National Anthem bets are big this year, especially after the fiasco last season from Christina Aguilera when she forgot the words to the song. Kelly Clarkson is quite the singer and has performed at both the World Series and NBA Finals in the past, where she was clocked right around 92 or 93 seconds. The Super Bowl is an entirely different beast, though, and you have to think she'll go a little longer with the entire world watching.
Smart Bet: Over. I'm guessing it takes about 100 seconds.
What Color will the Gatorade (or liquid) be that is dumped on the Head Coach of the Winning Super Bowl Team?
Clear/water - 3/2
Orange - 5/2
Yellow - 5/2
Blue - 7/1
Red - 7/1
Green - 15/2
There will likely be numerous kinds and flavors of Gatorade on the sidelines along with water, but I have to think there will be plenty of blue to go around. Not only do the Colts wear blue, but the Giants have it as their primary color and the Patriots wear it as well.
Smart Bet: Water is probably the safest bet, but I'd go with blue if I'm putting my money on it.
How many times will Andrew Luck be mentioned on TV during the game?
Over/Under is set for 1: (-120)
Luck has the rare distinction of being the consensus No. 1 overall draft pick and will more than likely be selected by the Colts, who are hosting the game. Those in Vegas have made it clear that it must be a live shot of Luck and they must refer to him by his full name.
Smart Bet: For as big as the NFL Draft is, I think the broadcast will want to focus on the game itself. At the very most I see them mentioning Luck once, but I'd bet the under.
There are plenty of other prop bets to make and these were just a few. Have a great Super Bowl Sunday and win a few bucks. Just don't do anything silly.
