Rumors surfaced this week that Browns were trying to trade for Houston Texans running back Ben Tate. There were never any confirmed reports, but many members of the media alluded to rumblings. The Texans retained All-Pro running back Arian Foster and the Browns were expected to lose Peyton Hillis, which likely sparked the rumors. But The Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot put those rumors to rest on Thursday morning, tweeting that there was nothing to it.
Nothing at all to rumor that Browns will trade for Texans' RB Ben Tate. Zero chance of happening I'm told.— Mary Kay Cabot (@MaryKayCabot) March 15, 2012
Aside from the Frostee Rucker signing on Wednesday, the Browns have yet to make many moves to add to the roster and some fans were holding out hope that this deal could be worked out.
