2012 NFL Mock Draft: Mel Kiper Sees Robert Griffin III In The Browns' Future

The 2012 NFL Draft is almost two months away, but the speculation about which teams will pick which players is running wild. Mel Kiper at ESPN rolled out his most recent 2012 NFL mock draft on Wednesday. What did he predict for the Cleveland Browns?

The Browns pick Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III in Kiper's mock, though he does not include trades.

The assumption is they'll need to move up to No. 2 to get RG3, but I can't reflect that until anything is official. I don't think the combine changed anything in terms of where Griffin was likely to land, but it certainly didn't hurt him. He showed off athleticism that would have been impressive for the top wide receivers and running backs. Given his experience, leadership qualities and overall skill set as an accurate passer with a potent arm, I don't see it as much of a leap for Griffin to be a Week 1 starter in 2012.

With Washington flirting with the idea of signing Peyton Manning, the Browns might not have much competition for moving up in the draft. That could allow them to swing a deal with the St. Louis Rams much cheaper than imagined.
