Browns Quarterback Competition Began On Tuesday As OTAs Get Underway

Following the NFL Draft and the selection of Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden at the 22nd overall slot, the writing on the wall started to appear for the Cleveland Browns and the future of the quarterback position. That writing became crystal clear after general manager Tom Heckert outright exclaimed on Monday night that he expected Weeden to be under center Week one.

However, when organized team activities opened for the Browns on Tuesday, it was incumbent quarterback Colt McCoy taking the first team snaps.

According to Weeden, he is just fine with that. The 28-year old rookie-to-be expressed that he doesn't want anything handed to him on a silver platter and looks forward to competing for the position. He went on to say that he and McCoy have a cordial relationship and nothing out of the ordinary has occurred between the two players.
