On Wednesday afternoon, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that the Cleveland Browns and seventh-round draft pick Brad Smelley have come to terms on an entry-level contract, citing a report found on Scout.com.
According to the report, the deal is worth $2.14 million over four-years and includes a singing bonus of $45,890. Smelley was a senior at Alabama last season and started in 10 of the team's 13 games. His most notable performance came in the 2012 BCS National Championship Game against Louisiana State University when he recorded a team-high seven catches in Alabama's 21-0 win.
The Browns drafted Smelley with the 247 overall pick in the seventh-round and hope to utilize his large 6-foot-2, 230 pound body at tight end or fullback. During his time at Alabama he was the roommate of the Browns' first overall selection, running back Trent Richardson.
